Chicken Tehari

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 4 tablespoons Mustard Oil
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 6-8 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 3 Cardamoms
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 1.5 teaspoons Ginger paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mace
  • 3 Dates
  • 1/4 cup Yogurt
  • 1/2-3/4 cup Water
  • Salt
  • Pepper

For the rice:

  • 1/4 cup Mustard Oil
  • 1 Onion sliced
  • 3 cups Soaked Rice

Instructions
 

  • Heat the oils and add the bay leaves, cardamom and cinnamon then add onions.
  • Fry for a few minutes.
  • Now add chicken, ginger paste, salt, pepper and red chili powder.
  • Fry for 10 minutes
  • Add the nutmeg and mace and dates.
  • Stir in the yogurt and water and let it cook for about 20 minutes on medium heat.

For the rice:

  • Sauté for 5 minutes and then add 3 1/2 cups hot water, salt to taste and cook 10 minutes on low heat.
  • You will now add the chicken on top and garnish with green chilies and cilantro and cover and cook on lowest heat for 20 minutes.
