Ingredients
- 2 cups of pitted dates
- 1 cup boiling water
- 4 tablespoons of good quality ghee
- 3/4 cup sugar to taste
- 1 cup whole milk powder
- 1 cup almond meal
- 1 healthy pinch of saffron
- 2 tsp cardamom powder
- 3/4 cup cashews
- Coconut flakes for garnish.
Instructions
- Method: Place the pitted dates in a bowl and cover with the boiling water. Let that sit for20 minutes then blend to a smooth consistency.Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the date mixture. Stir well and add the sugar, milk powder, almond meal, saffron and cardamom powder. Stir well till it does not stick to the sides of the pan. Now fold in the cashews Prepare your square 7 inch baking pan by covering with parchment paper brushing with gheePour the halva into the pan. Smooth it out and dust with coconut. Refrigerate till firm. Cut into desired shapes and enjoy.
