These Chola Chaat Tokris are my favourite way to eat chola chaat. They look absolutely adorable and easily become the focal point of any table setting. I found these tokris at my local Indian store but if you cannot find them, you can also use phyllo cups. I have also topped them with pomegranate seeds and they taste great with those too. If you do make chola chaat, do share your thoughts with me.
Chola Chaat Tokris
Ingredients
Ingredients:
- 2 cans of garbanzo beans (boil with a pinch of baking soda drain and set aside)
- 1 large red onion diced
- 2 potatoes boiled, peeled and diced
- 1 green chili finely chopped
- 1 tomato diced
- 1 bunch cilantro finely chopped
- Red chili flakes to taste
- 2 tsp dry roasted and crushed cumin seed
- 2 tablespoons chaat masala or to taste
- 1 box of the tokris (edible mini baskets)
- 1 small packet of nylon sev
- 1/2 cup imli ki chutney here’s the recipe for the chutney
Instructions
Method:
- In a large bowl combine all the ingredients together. At this point you can add enough tamarind chutney to reach your desired consistency. I like my consistency to be not too liquify. Please add according to your taste. At this point taste it and add more spices if desired.
- Let that marinate for a couple of hours
- Fill the tokris with the chaat and top with crushed sev.
