White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Date Bars

I love semi homemade easy dessert recipes that look like you’ve been working onit for hours on end. This recipe is so simple and it comes together so fast. The flavors are an absolute delight. I must say that it makes a rather impressive dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 package Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 stuck of butter
  • 1 cup of pitted dates 
  • 1/2 cup Boiling water 
  • 1 cup sweet cheese (optional) I get this from the middle eastern store
  • 3/4 cup chopped macadamia nuts
  • 2 tbsp orange blossom water
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Instructions
 

  • Add the pitted dates to a bowl and cover with boiling water
  • Let that sit for about 15 minutes and then drain the water.
  • In a stand mixer add the cookie mix, butter and egg. 
  • Using the paddle attachment, mix well
  • Now fold in the chopped macadamia nuts and white chocolate chips 
  • In a food processor purée the dates and sweet cheese with the orange blossom water 
  • Press1/2 the cookie dough into a prepared square baking pan and now add the date mixture 
  • Roll out the remaining cookie dough and add it on top of the date mixture. Sprinkle with shredded coconut and bake at 350 till golden brown. 
  • When done, let it cool slightly and cut into squares and enjoy.
