Chicken Tehari
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 4 tablespoons Mustard Oil
- 3 Bay leaves
- 6-8 cloves Garlic crushed
- 3 Cardamoms
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- 1.5 teaspoons Ginger paste
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Mace
- 3 Dates
- 1/4 cup Yogurt
- 1/2-3/4 cup Water
- Salt
- Pepper
For the rice:
- 1/4 cup Mustard Oil
- 1 Onion sliced
- 3 cups Soaked Rice
Instructions
- Heat the oils and add the bay leaves, cardamom and cinnamon then add onions.
- Fry for a few minutes.
- Now add chicken, ginger paste, salt, pepper and red chili powder.
- Fry for 10 minutes
- Add the nutmeg and mace and dates.
- Stir in the yogurt and water and let it cook for about 20 minutes on medium heat.
For the rice:
- Sauté for 5 minutes and then add 3 1/2 cups hot water, salt to taste and cook 10 minutes on low heat.
- You will now add the chicken on top and garnish with green chilies and cilantro and cover and cook on lowest heat for 20 minutes.
